I live on the coast of lake Malawi and fly an Aquilla II with a 503, I am the only trike operating in the entire country, its a bit lonely up there but it is also a privelige! I love trike flying,and have had some awesome adventures, they are about to get even better! I have received my floats from JP yippee!!!!!!!! Thanks to your page after a few years of debating I asked JP to build me a pair for the aquilla. I have two issues before I can legally fly them and was hoping that you might be able to advise! 1.I need a float flying rating, do you know where in africa or europe I could get one? 2.There is no official certification for the krucker floats, to pass civil aviation laws they need to be certified, how did you manage? Any help will be greatly appreciated as you can imagine every second delayed hurts, I want to fly my floats! I look forward to hearing from you! Come visit! This answer is very important for me.- PETER Comment:Hello Peter. I have flown both wings. I would say that the topless wing is better. I will buy one myself this winter I hope. The speed is about 20kmh higher with the TL wing, important for long cross-country flights. It cruises at 125-130 kmh hands-off at max trim, mine at 105-110kmh. The only bad thing is that the landing speed is a little higher and it demands a longer field. Altough I land it at my field that is 160 metres and it works fine. The topless wing is a little stiffer at the roll, heavyer handling due to the higher speed I think. But that means better in turbulence. I have had a pilot licence in the USA but had let it expire...flying conventional aircraft for about 100hrs I then switch to ultralights for 10yrs, the last 4 of them on full lotus floats i Florida. I have about 800hrs total. This interest has just sparked my mind to possibly get back in the seat in a microlight on floats and skis. I am looking at the Krucker Amphibious with a 912 with a fast wing called the Hazard Italian wing that will cruise 60-70mph. I have been out of the seat since 1990 and would like to know if you have your cfi licence so I may be trained to recieve my licence. Also can I bring this aircraft into Norway and fly it here or matter of fact be trained in it...it will have a Light Sport Aircraft certification in the next 4-6mths or sooner. Also can you tell me if Microlights in Norway can be used legally commercially? Can you please tell where to go and read the FAR's on microlights in Norway and where do I go on the net/ph# to talk with the Norwegian Aviation Authority?....Joel Comment:Hi Joel. I have not the cfi license. But there are several instructors in southern and easern Norway. As long as the Krucker trike don't have any type of certification, there is a problem importing and flying it legally in Norway. An alternativ is the Ramphos amphib with the hazzard wing, that works fine. Comers use of microlights in Norway is not legal:-( I suggest you call Tom Bjerke, the leader at the Norwegian microlight society. Have you had any problems with vibration or cold air? Comment:Hi! I use a Sony TRV22, a digital cam. It is a few years now...four I think. It has worked fine until the last months, now things are happening:-( The cold air lowers the battery time, else it's fine. Vibrations is a problem if mounting it to the frame. The wing ore the helmet is the best. I also have some "bullet cameras" , but when I got them, the Sony camcorder broke. You connect the bulletcam's to the camcorders AV-in.
